More about the role:
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Assistant Controller who is ready to jump in and assist on multiple initiatives spanning our accounting and finance functions. This position is responsible for implementing best practices and ensuring our financial records and reports are accurate and reliable and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing month-end close, managing AP/AR cycles, financial statement analysis, and various ad-hoc projects. This is a growth position with the potential to gain valuable experience implementing new systems, financial forecasting, managing a team of staff accountants, and scaling an exciting business. Duties may change based on the needs of the organization.
- Manages the organization's accounting-related functions, including but not limited to general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Perform reconciliations and journal entries for assigned accounts and companies for month-end
Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers
Documents and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures
Conducts review and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation
Participates in a wide variety of other projects and tasks as assigned or requested
Work/ train cross functional teams on internal account best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles
- Accounting/ERP System knowledge (Hubspot, Quickbooks Online, Stripe, Saasoptics)
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
Ability to work autonomously
Detail-oriented with an excellent ability to analyze data
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Perpetually curious and always interested in optimizing for better results
Ability to communicate and collaborate across the organization.
