Air-Conditioning Technician (Centralised Engineering)

Position Specific Requirements:

An Air-Conditioning (Air-con) Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing residential, commercial, or industrial HVAC and cooling systems.

Core Responsibilities:

Installation: Set up split systems, central air units, chillers, VRV/VRF systems, and ductwork according to blueprints and manufacturer specifications.
Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning evaporator/condenser coils, replacing air filters, checking refrigerant pressure, and inspecting electrical connections.
Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot electrical circuits, compressor failures, motor defects, and system leaks; repair or replace faulty components promptly.
Refrigerant Management: Safely recover, vacuum test, charge, and handle refrigerants (e.g., R-32, R-410A, R-134a) following local environmental standards.
Testing & Calibration: Test system performance using manifolds, multimeters, leak detectors, and airflow meters to ensure optimal cooling efficiency.

Position Specific Skills:

• Education: Vocational diploma, technical certificate, or apprenticeship in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Certifications: Mandatory regional handling certifications (e.g., EPA Section 608, local electrician or refrigeration license).
• Electrical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams, testing single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits, and using multimeter instruments.
• Mechanical Skill: Hands-on experience with pipe brazing, soldering, pressure testing, and vacuum pumping.
