Our office includes an on-site, Quad A accredited operating room, allowing us to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical care on site.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Accreditation Specialist, ensuring ongoing compliance with all regulatory standards and maintaining our Quad A accreditation. This contract position requires an average commitment of just a few hours per month and is ideal for a nurse who values safety, precision, and excellence in surgical care. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a retired nurse seeking limited, flexible work or for an active nurse interested in supplementing income.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison with Quad A and oversee all aspects of accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Compile and maintain all documentation required for annual self-surveys and the triennial on-site accreditation survey.
- Coordinate with Quad A surveyors and represent the practice during the site visit.
- Work with staff to resolve any identified deficiencies and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the Office-Based Surgery Standards Manual, including:
- Anesthesia
- Operating Room Environment and Safety
- Equipment Maintenance
- Emergency Preparedness
- Medications
- Infection Control
- Records Management
- Governance
- Quality Assurance
- Personnel Standards
- Conduct monthly medical record reviews with the Medical Director.
- Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures related to patient safety, infection control, and clinical operations.
- Provide staff education and training on accreditation standards and updates.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
- Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), hospital, or accredited outpatient facility.
- Prior experience with accreditation processes, strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement standards.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (no benefits)
- Estimated Time Commitment:
- Several hours monthly to maintain compliance and documentation
- ~8 hours annually to complete the annual self-survey documentation
- Increased hours during the triennial on-site survey period
