About the job Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant
Prima Medicine, a well-established and state-of-the-art primary care practice in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a full-time licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable practicing independently in a clinical setting and will play a key role in managing and coordinating care for an assigned patient panel, with a particular emphasis on Medical Weight Loss. Our comprehensive weight management program takes a holistic approach, integrating nutritional counseling, lifestyle modification, and ongoing monitoring to support long-term patient success.

The ideal candidate will be committed to developing strong relationships with their patients and providing a continuity of care.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Assess patients needs, order or perform tests, interpret results and offer diagnosis and education; order prescriptions and referrals as needed
- Communicate with collaborating physician regarding patient care
- For medical weight loss patients, provide pre- and post-operative support, medication management, nutritional & behavioral counseling and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Chart visit notes in an electronic medical record in a timely fashion
The position is structured as follows:
- Full-time, Monday - Friday, 830 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- NO evening or weekend clinic hours
- NO call
Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Virginia NP or PA License
- Unencumbered DEA License (within 30 days of hire)
- ACLS/BLS Certification
- Self-motivated, directed, flexible and a team player
- Outgoing and engaging personality
- Energetic and enthusiastic about career growth and development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans
- Ability to counsel weight loss patients regarding treatment options, treatment plans, and behavior modification
- Obesity Medicine Association Advanced Education Certification, preferred
