About the job Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant
At Home Harmony is transforming how healthcare is delivered to aging seniors and medically vulnerable members in our community. Our private practice is focused on keeping seniors healthy by providing care in their homes through an interdisciplinary team of providers, pharmacists, nurses, social workers and others - all working together to meet our patients' needs. We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant willing to visit patients in their homes to join our team. This Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant will be responsible for blood draws, specimen preparation and transport of specimens to support our in-office lab including:
- Doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
- Setting patients at ease and explaining clearly and courteously the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing)
- Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures
- Packaging specimens for transport
- Properly storing specimen samples
- Answering telephone calls, reading laboratory results upon inquiry
- Performing data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintaining patient and specimen information logs
- Providing superior customer service to all patients
- Understanding and complying with OSHA regulations
- Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
The Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant will also have administrative duties in the office including:
- Scheduling / Confirming appointments
- Retrieving faxes
- Coordinating RPM device delivery to patients
- Other duties as assigned
Applicants must have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency, preferred
- Medical Assistant certification
- Previous experience as a phlebotomist
- Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
- Strong communication and organizational skills
