This well-established Neurovascular practice specializes in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology and the treatment of strokes and aneurysms. The practice is seeking a full-time, certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or licensed Physician Assistant (PA) to join its team. The NP/PA plays a vital role in patient care, assisting with the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurological conditions using imaging technologies. Job duties of the NP/PA include but are not limited to:
1. Patient Evaluation and Assessment
- Conduct initial and follow-up assessments of patients with neurological disorders.
- Obtain medical history, perform physical exams, and evaluate symptoms related to brain, spine, and nervous system conditions.
- Interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging results in collaboration with neuroradiologists.
2. Collaboration with Physicians and Radiologists
- Work closely with neuroradiologists to determine appropriate imaging techniques for diagnosis.
- Review images with radiologists to understand patient conditions and aid in diagnosis.
3. Treatment Planning and Management
- Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans based on imaging results, patient conditions, and consultation with the medical team.
- Prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and recommend interventions as part of patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary, ensuring that care plans are aligned with imaging findings.
4. Patient and Family Education
- Educate patients and their families about their neurological conditions, treatment options, and imaging procedures.
- Provide guidance on what to expect during diagnostic tests and post-imaging care.
- Address any concerns related to neuroradiological procedures and neurological health.
5. Coordination of Care
- Coordinate appointments for diagnostic imaging and follow-up consultations.
- Ensure that patients are appropriately referred to specialists based on imaging findings.
- Assist with coordinating care across multiple healthcare providers, including neurologists, radiologists, and physical therapists.
The NP/PA position offers the following structure:
- Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- NO weekends! NO evenings! NO call!
Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Virginia NP or PA License
- Two years of experience, preferred
- Neurology/Radiology experience, preferred
- Unencumbered DEA License (within 30 days of hire)
- ACLS/BLS Certification
- Self-motivated, directed, flexible and a team player
