Medical Director / Family Medicine Physician (Flexible Full-Time or Fractional Opportunity)
Leadership-Focused Role | Build, Lead, and Transform Care Delivery

The Opportunity

Zoe Primary Care is seeking a Medical Director / Family Practice Physician who is as passionate about leading people as they are about caring for patients. This is a unique opportunity to step into a true clinical leadership role—one that blends patient care with meaningful organizational impact.

This position is intentionally flexible:

  • Full-time: Combine clinical care with hands-on leadership
  • Part-time / Fractional: Focus primarily on leadership with a reduced patient panel

We are committed to working with the right physician to design a structure that aligns with both your professional goals and the needs of the practice.

Why This Role Matters

We're growing! You'll be stepping into a pivotal moment for the organization:

  • We are seeking a clinical leader to guide our providers through strategic growth and change with a presence that is firm, fair and trusted
  • Clinical workflows need thoughtful redesign—not quick fixes
  • We are looking for a provider to lead our teams with clarity, accountability, and support.

This is a chance to stabilize, energize, and lead—not from the sidelines, but from within.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as a steady, credible voice during a time of transformation
  • Provide visible, engaged clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team
  • Evaluate and redesign workflows to improve efficiency and provider experience
  • Set clear expectations and foster accountability
  • Address performance issues, resistance, and conflict directly and constructively
  • Partner with executive leadership to align clinical operations with strategic goals
  • Advocate for providers while maintaining high standards of care and performance

Who You Are

  • Board-certified/eligible Family Medicine physician (MD/DO)
  • Experienced provider and leader who has successfully guided teams through change or high-pressure environments
  • Skilled in patient care, workflow optimization, and systems thinking
  • High emotional intelligence—you balance empathy with decisiveness
  • A builder and problem-solver who creates solutions—not just policies
  • Respected for your integrity, credibility, and follow-through

What We Offer

  • Flexible structure (full-time or fractional leadership model)
  • Opportunity to shape the future of a growing, evolving practice
  • A role with real authority and meaningful impact
  • Collaborative partnership with executive leadership
  • Competitive compensation aligned with scope and structure

About Zoe Primary Care

About Zoe Primary Care

At Zoe Primary Care, the name Zoe—a Greek word meaning abundant life—guides everything we do. For over a decade, our umbrella practice, ZoeRVA Health, supported the Richmond community through counseling and psychiatry, grounded in the belief that true health connects both mind and body. Building on that foundation, we started Zoe Primary Care, designed to help patients not just manage illness, but truly thrive.

Our approach is rooted in Lifestyle Medicine, focusing on identifying and addressing the root causes of health concerns rather than simply treating symptoms. We partner with patients to create personalized care plans that reflect their unique strengths, challenges, and goals.

At Zoe Primary Care, we recognize that health is shaped by many factors—stress, sleep, movement, nutrition, relationships, and emotional well-being. That's why our care is comprehensive, intentional, and deeply personal.

If you're looking for a role where you can lead with purpose, improve systems, and support providers in doing their best work, we'd welcome the conversation.
