Purpose of the Role
The Financial Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal controls, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. This role is foundational in processing transactions, reconciling accounts, supporting payroll and treasury activities, and preparing documentation for audits and compliance reviews. As part of the Core Finance Group, this role supports the organization's day-to-day accounting needs and contributes to its strategic financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Accounting & Ledger Management
- Maintain the chart of accounts and general ledger integrity.
- Process accurate journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
2. Payroll & Disbursement Support
- Ensure accuracy in salary processing, expense reimbursements, and statutory deductions.
- Liaise with the People & Culture Office on payroll cycle documentation.
3. Banking & Treasury Coordination
- Reconcile bank transactions, manage cash records, and monitor account activity.
- Assist Treasury in cash flow reporting and payment scheduling.
4. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Apply financial protocols and internal control policies.
- Prepare reports and records for audit and regulatory reviews.
5. Documentation & Transaction Integrity
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and supported.
- Maintain up-to-date records for procurement-related advances and returns.
6. Reporting & Collaboration
- Assist in financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with procurement, warehouse, delivery, and HR functions for cross-departmental accuracy.

This position is classified as a Grade 3 under the Functional Expertise Track and offers advancement to:
- Senior Financial Accountant (Grade 4)
- Chief Financial Accountant (Grade 5)
- Finance Manager (Grade 6)
Growth depends on demonstrated performance, cross-functional collaboration, and successful audit outcomes
Compensation
- Base Salary: 2,500 LYD/month (Grade 3 Step C Minimum)
- Probation Period: 3 months
- Post-Probation Adjustment: Upon successful completion of the probation period, salary increases to 2,700 LYD/month (Grade 3 Step C Midpoint)
- Work Schedule: Saturday to Thursday, 8 hours per day
- Overtime Eligibility: Available for extended periods of month-end closing or treasury support, when approved
Minimum Requirements
1. Education & Certification
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory)
- Basic training in accounting software and ERP (e.g., Zoho Books, ERPNext, Odoo)
2. Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years in accounting or finance
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, ledgers
- Exposure to payroll, month-end closings, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with procurement and advance reconciliation (a plus)
3. Technical Skills
- Proficient in Zoho Books or similar systems
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reports)
- Understanding of accounting standards (IFRS or GAAP)
4. Systems & Process Orientation
- Experience with month-end/year-end closing cycles
- Document handling for audits and financial reviews
- Familiarity with financial workflows involving procurement and treasury
5. Other Requirements
- Based in Tripoli, Libya.
- Full-time availability (Sunday to Thursday)
