Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer will play an active leadership role in informing and delivering the expansion strategy of the Group (Ghana). Bringing a technology mindset as well as a focus on the African continent, the CFO will be responsible for driving financial planning and profitability, revenue assurance and transformational growth strategy. Reporting to the CEO for Ghana (with a dotted line to the Financial Council), the CFO will be responsible for protecting the company’s revenues and profits to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.

Leadership and Strategy

  • Drive financial performance and advise on and track all investments
  • Ensure that the Group is both adequately and optimally funded to meet all operational needs and

    expansion plans

  • Set, define, and deliver a strategy for the finance function that is both fully aligned with the overall

    strategy of the Group and ensures that the function adopts functional ‘best practice’ and embeds a

    culture of continuous performance improvement

  • Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking and benchmarking and

    representation on related forums

  • Keep abreast of trends, legislation, and best practices within the financial management field in order

    to optimize service offering and delivery

  • Informing business leaders of unethical transactions immediately it comes to his attention
  • Manage change within the operations area
  • Develop direct reports with a view to planning for succession and continuity
  • Mentor and coach entity CFOs in best practice and driving growth
  • Identify and nurture talent within the operations environment

Financial Operations:

  • Have principal responsibility for accounting, audited financial statements, management accounts, treasury, tax, financial planning, reporting and analysis of financials to all stakeholders and enterprise risk management and internal audit
  • Monthly reporting on actual and budgeted performance for Entity and Group management
  • Oversee regulatory/statutory submission and payment of statutory levies
  • Compilation of annual financial statements and liaison with external auditors; annual budgeting;

    establishing and maintaining of sound accounting practices, procedures, and controls

  • Provision of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) information for group reporting standards; reporting on financial performance to the board and financial council
  • Accountability and responsibility of financial functions relating to internal client service:
  • o Expense controls; for all subsidiaries/ different lines of business
    o Provide accurate financial income statement to all subsidiaries/ different lines of business o Resolve internal client queries

     
  • Interaction with external Asset Managers to comply with Group and statutory reporting requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience as a finance leader, including at least 5 years as a group finance director or its equivalent
  • Proven track record of delivering financial excellence
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and internal control principles, operational risk evaluation and

     governance frameworks in a financial institution
  • Good knowledge of IFRS accounting principles
  • A nationally recognised financial qualification

    Accountants of Ghana, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana)

Key Competencies
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience as a finance leader, including at least 5 years as a group finance director or its equivalent
  • Strong and charismatic individual with solid pedigree and experience managing change and building high performing teams
  • Exposure to multiple lines of business an advantage
  • Exposure to multiple systems of record is an advantage
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting objectives in a professional and seamless manner
  • Must possess deep and practical strategic thinking abilities and robust business acumen
  • Very good networking skills and ability to bridge divides to meet the Group’s needs at any point
  • Communication Skills: Superior

    communication skills, both in written and 

    verbal form.

  • Ms Office/Software: highly proficient in the

    use of Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Project and PowerPoint, necessary for the creation of visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations for the business’s executives, stakeholders, and collaborating personnel.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Flexible, open, and welcoming to change, agile, have an ability to work in a constantly evolving environment, have an executive presence, have a positive can-do attitude, be result oriented, be self- motivated and proactive, and have an ability to work comfortably with collaborative personnel and senior business executives and stakeholders.
