Role Overview

Our Client is a well-established residential and commercial development company in Ontario seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to manage and support civil engineering aspects of development projects from preliminary design through approvals and construction. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, practical construction experience, and the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute civil engineering designs for residential and commercial development projects.
• Prepare technical deliverables including drawings, specifications, reports, tender packages, and cost estimates.
• Design critical infrastructure covering site grading, servicing, drainage, stormwater management, and septic systems.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs from architects, planners, surveyors, and contractors.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies including Ontario municipalities, conservation authorities, and utility providers.
• Ensure full compliance with Ontario standards, municipal requirements, and building codes.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to provide technical support and monitor progress.
• Resolve construction issues managing design changes, site conditions, and RFIs (Requests for Information).
• Attend coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and approval authorities.
• Prepare meeting minutes, project schedules, presentations, and correspondence.
• Support tendering, proposal preparation, and contractor coordination as required.

Required Experience & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario mandatory; candidates without this licence will not be considered.
• Proven experience in land development — residential and/or commercial — or construction engineering.
• Practical knowledge of residential development and house design requirements.
• Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater management, and site servicing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports in accordance with Ontario municipal standards.
• Strong familiarity with Ontario municipal approval processes and engineering standards.
• Valid Ontario driver's licence for project site travel.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is highly valued.
• Must currently reside in Ontario and be legally authorised to work in Canada.
