General Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial records in compliance with applicable accounting standards and UAE regulations. The role requires strong knowledge of general accounting, cost accounting, IFRS, and local tax requirements, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and support both internal and external audit processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
• Record vendor invoices in the accounting system and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
• Issue customer invoices in accordance with contract terms and ensure proper revenue recognition
• Perform regular reconciliation of bank statements and statements of accounts
• Process employee expense claims and ensure compliance with company policies
• Manage inventory accounting, including stock movements and valuation
• Account for tangible and intangible fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
• Calculate cost of goods sold and perform cost accounting and cost analysis
• Ensure timely recognition of expenses, including accruals, prepaid expenses, provisions, and cost allocations
• Support tax accounting processes, including UAE VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) compliance
• Ensure adherence to IFRS principles and company accounting policies
• Facilitate internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries
• Perform other ad-hoc accounting and finance-related tasks as required by Management

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of general accounting, bookkeeping processes, and accounting principles
• Good understanding of cost accounting, inventory, fixed assets, and tax accounting
• Knowledge of IFRS standards
• Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Income Tax regulations
• Experience with accounting systems such as Odoo and SAP Business One is an advantage
