About the job Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

The EMT-B:

  • functions in uncommon situations;
  • has a basic understanding of stress response and methods to ensure personal well-being;
  • has an understanding of body substance isolation;
  • understands basic medical-legal principles;
  • functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional and local regulatory agencies;
  • complies with regulations on the handling of the deceased, notifies authorities and arranges for
  • protection of property and evidence at the scene.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • general education degree (GED) required
  • 35 to 48 years old
  • 5 years experience in Paramedic 
  • Current EMT certification/license in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of practice
  • 1 year of experience in an emergency care setting preferrred
  • Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment
