Position Title: Vice President of Finance

Position Summary

The Vice President of Finance is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, overseeing all accounting and finance functions, and managing multiple sub-departments within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of financial reporting, budget management, and compliance, as well as the ability to lead process improvement initiatives, present financial results to the Board of Directors, and effectively de-escalate challenging client situations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze and interpret financial reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Departmental Leadership

  • Direct and manage sub-departments including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, and Collections.
  • Mentor and develop department managers, fostering a culture of accountability and performance excellence.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Project & Process Management

  • Lead financial process improvement projects to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement financial systems and tools to support automation and improved accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Strategic & Client-Facing Leadership

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to company strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver professional financial presentations to the Board of Directors, providing clear analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage and de-escalate situations with upset clients, using effective communication and problem-solving to maintain positive relationships.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on financial performance and market conditions.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and other special financial projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong managerial skills with a proven track record of leading multi-functional finance teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, and conflict-resolution skills.
