- Evaluate, develop, and improve departmental controls, systems, and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department, ensuring all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation.
- Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties such as vendors or lenders.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records and participate in audits or reconciliations as needed.
- Assist other departments in developing strategies, establishing objectives, and making decisions that may have a financial impact on the business.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the finance industry.
- Manage all company books, including financial reporting, tax, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of accounting manuals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's Degree or CPA preferred)
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial legislation.
- Experience in analyzing financial data, creating reports, and presenting findings to management and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, completing audits or reconciliations, and taxation.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Can start immediately if possible.
