One of our prestigious clients in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looking to hire a Superintendent Machining Shop II, I.


Job Purpose:

The experienced hands-on leader in this position is capable of setting up and running machine shop equipment and processes, managing teams under their responsibility, acting as a liaison between MRO superintendents and other internal customers, and Technical Services Management for day-to-day operations. Advising on the most efficient, cost-effective, and safe techniques and equipment suitable for accomplishing desired results within given time and budget constraints, while preserving the function of physical assets throughout their lifecycle, is also part of the role. Leading the team by example and sharing knowledge gained from extensive industry experience in machining related to Ship and/or Rig MRO, as well as supporting continuous improvement efforts within the Technical Services team, investigating root cause failures, and deriving preventative and corrective actions are key responsibilities.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring smooth execution of CNC and conventional machining works in the area of responsibility, including machine setup, process flow, and availability of required tools and auxiliary equipment.
  • Efficient utilization of equipment and assets, production planning and execution, and availability of proper tooling.
  • Manning equipment with trained staff to ensure sufficient workforce for tasks while minimizing excessive idle time.
  • Leading programming of machines, setting up jobs with required jigs and holders, and selecting proper inserts, tools, and holders.
  • Developing specifications for new tools, assets, and consumables required for business needs, as well as SOPs for existing machinery and other procedures and work instructions.
  • Managing production workflows, monitoring equipment utilization, and ensuring effective usage throughout their lifespan. Contributing to the development of new facilities, processes, and organizational structures.
  • Supporting the Technical Services General Manager in feasibility studies considering machine shop capabilities, international standards, and client requirements.
  • Reviewing new project statements of work and providing feedback regarding time estimation and tooling requirements.
  • Supporting Technical Services HSE and Inspection teams in complying with quality and safety norms, in accordance with company policy and QHSE Management System.
  • General management responsibilities of the team in accordance with IMIs policies and applicable laws.
  • Supporting Technical Services Management in effective recruitment, selection, training, certification of personnel, performance appraisal, reward and counseling of team members, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Working closely with the Technical Services HSE team to engineer out potential hazards and provide a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Staying informed of changes to applicable international standards and communicating them to relevant departments for implementation and compliance.
  • Execution of other tasks and duties as assigned by Technical Services Management.


Who we are looking for:

  • Diploma or Vocational school in machining combined with required experience.
  • At least 15+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within shipbuilding or a similar industry.
  • Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations): Milling, Grinding, Lathe, and other machining operations, CAD, CAM software, CNC Programming (G and M-code), Manual editing of machine programs.
  • Deep knowledge of milling, grinding, lathe, and other machining operations.
  • Good knowledge of CNC programming as well as manual editing.
  • Practical knowledge of CAD, CAM software; capable of reviewing designs and advising feasibility of manufacturing.
  • Good knowledge of machine-related equipment and processes (e.g., tooling, inserts, coolant, chip removal, etc.).
  • Very good knowledge of metrology, gauging, and related equipment.
  • Drafting of required SOPs and other procedural documents.
  • Cost-conscious and conservative with resources.
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory), Arabic or other languages (desirable).
