Job Overview

Supervise, enhance, and coordinate Shipyard Services, which include temporary lighting,
air ventilation, and extraction, lifting systems, crane and forklift operations, wood carpentry, as well as the management of shipyard blocks and ship movements. Ensure the efficient utilization of internal resources in overseeing scaffolding and ship cleaning.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Align section goals, processes, and resource allocation with the organizational strategy while maintaining awareness of commercial and business objectives.
  • Ensure the accomplishment of organizational unit objectives by managing staff;
    planning and evaluating organizational unit activities.
  • Define objectives, identifies, and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of
    action, and evaluates outcomes.
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual
    budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Support with strategic problems resolution and subjective decision making.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Supervise the entire work done by the team members and making sure it is completed on time without any delay.
  • Lead the team to complete tasks and meet goals through delegation of responsibilities and supervising business operations.
  • Set the vision and motivation of the team in order to achieve the sought objectives efficiently.
  • Set appropriate and achievable deadlines.
  • Track and report critical organizational unit performance results and escalate and negotiate business related issues to senior management.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Take on the responsibility of overseeing various temporary systems, including suction, lighting, emergency lighting, power lines, and technical gas lines, both on land and on the ship in dock and on the quay.
  • Supervise the management of barges for launching, handling, and mooring, including the development of plans for boarding and handling. 
  • Oversee the operation of cranes and lifting equipment, as well as the movement of sections/blocks and the transportation of materials from the warehouse and/or workshops to the docks.
  • Execute ship fitting plans and small carpentry for wooden structures, while also overseeing activities conducted by external companies in this area.
  • Manage and monitor the construction of scaffolding on land sections and on board the ship during dock and quay activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee contracted works, including temporary systems and ship, section, or block cleaning, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Direct marine activities alongside sailors, such as launching, mooring at the dock, and handling harnesses during construction.
  • Provide assistance during sea and dock trials to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage requests for material purchases, ensuring compliance with budgetary limits and repeated use requirements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to accident prevention and work safety regulations within the workshop.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning & Control and Trade Resources Management to effectively plan activities, considering safety, quality, budget constraints, and assigned priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or any other similar field.
  • Above 9 years of experience in related field including 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or any other similar field.
