Lead Civil / Structural Engineer

One of our International Oilfield Services client is seeking a Lead Civil / Structural Engineer to be based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lead Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for all civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering activities across large-scale industrial projects. This role spans FEED through commissioning and encompasses site civil works, structural steel and concrete design, foundations, roads, drainage, and earthworks. This role demands a strong EPC background with a track record of delivering complex industrial plant civil/structural scopes in demanding environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the civil/structural discipline through all project phases — FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop and manage civil/structural deliverables: site development plans, foundation designs, structural drawings, civil specifications, and material take-offs.
• Lead geotechnical assessment interpretation and foundation design for large industrial equipment, storage tanks, and process structures in arid/desert environments.
• Design reinforced concrete structures, structural steel frames, pipe racks, equipment foundations, and underground utilities.
• Ensure designs meet Saudi Aramco standards, Saudi Building Code (SBC), ACI, AISC, ASCE, and other applicable international codes.
• Manage coordination with process and mechanical disciplines for equipment loads, anchor bolt design, and nozzle orientations.
• Oversee preparation of civil/structural material requisitions, vendor document reviews, and supplier evaluations.
• Provide construction support: review submittals, attend inspection hold points, resolve technical queries, and ensure workmanship quality.
• Support commissioning and structural pre-completion inspections; coordinate civil punch list completion.
• Lead, review, and approve the work of civil/structural team members and sub-consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience on EPC projects in oil & gas, petrochemical, or large-scale industrial facilities.
• Strong background in reinforced concrete, structural steel, and foundation engineering for heavy industrial plants.
• Familiarity with desert/arid ground conditions, and seismic design requirements in the Arabian Peninsula is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, or equivalent).
• Experience with Saudi Aramco engineering standards and Saudi Building Code is a significant advantage.
• Owner's engineering or PMC-side experience in addition to EPC background is a significant advantage.
• Hands-on field construction experience and comfort working on active project sites is strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
