Mechanical Engineer Plumbing/HVAC
Location: Honolulu, HI (Must be in Hawaii at the time of application)
A well-established architectural consulting firm is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Honolulu team. This role involves working on plumbing and HVAC systems for commercial and residential projects, including troubleshooting, assessments, and design modifications for low, mid, and high-rise buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field inspections to identify issues with piping and HVAC systems and recommend solutions.
- Perform disassembly and testing in a lab environment to find root causes of failures.
- Design and update plumbing and mechanical systems to ensure they meet current codes and standards.
- Review and adjust project drawings to align with system needs.
- Work with project managers and design teams to deliver well-integrated solutions.
- Create clear and detailed technical reports based on field and lab findings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (an advanced degree or commitment to further education is a plus).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to secure one within six months.
- At least five years of experience in piping or HVAC design and maintenance (ten years or more preferred).
- Familiarity with materials testing and failure analysis methods.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Comfortable presenting detailed technical information.
- Prior work in building system assessments and repair is an advantage.
- Ability to learn new concepts and explain them in accessible terms.
- Project management experience is a plus.
