They are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts across a wide range of building projects. What You'll Do:
- Serve as the mechanical engineering lead on building projects in commercial, healthcare, educational, and civic sectors.
- Provide oversight of mechanical system design, documentation, and calculations from concept through construction.
- Guide and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, fostering both technical development and professional growth.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design quality and project timelines are met.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, business development, and operational improvement.
- Conduct site visits and provide construction-phase support as needed.
- Participate in client meetings and present technical solutions in a clear, professional manner.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline); advanced degrees a plus.
- Deep understanding of HVAC systems design and performance in complex facilities.
- 8-10+ years of experience in building systems design, with increasing leadership responsibilities.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and sustainable design practices.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; LEED certification is a plus.
- Experience with Revit, energy modeling tools (e.g., Trane Trace 700 or EnergyPlus), and industry-standard software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
- Must be based in Hawaii at the time of application.
