HVAC Estimator

We are partnering with a local HVAC and mechanical contractor in Honolulu, HI, to identify an experienced HVAC Estimator to join their team.

The Role

The HVAC Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential HVAC projects. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, and vendors to support successful bids and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed HVAC cost estimates for new construction, renovations, and retrofit projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine the scope of work
• Perform material takeoffs, labor calculations, and equipment pricing
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
• Identify risks, assumptions, and value-engineering opportunities
• Support bid submissions and pre-construction planning
• Collaborate with project management and field teams
• Maintain accurate estimating documentation

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience as a construction estimator, preferably focused on HVAC or mechanical projects
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and installation methods
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Experience with estimating software and Excel
• Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines

Preferred Experience

• Commercial HVAC estimating experience
• Knowledge of local building codes and permitting requirements
• Field experience in HVAC or mechanical construction
• Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree (preferred, not required)
