Our client, a growing EPC in Toronto is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for their projects in the mining and mineral processing sector. With a focus on power engineering in Mineral Processing, the incumbent must have a P. Eng. designation and will report directly to the CEO.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish scope of work for projects and proposals and develop engineering cost estimates, deliverable lists, schedules, change order requests.
  • Develop and track project schedules, person-hours, deliverables in conjunction with Project Services Group and Project Manager(s).
  • Act as Lead for the execution of all electrical deliverables needed for the successful completion of engineering projects. This includes all deliverables on Power Supply and Instrumentation & Control.
  • Carry out detailed design, sizing, and calculations.
  • Participate in the preparation of engineering studies such as grounding, protection coordination, arc flash, short circuit, etc. while using applicable engineering software (e.g., ETAP).
  • Engage in the preparation of engineering drawings such as single line, layout, schematics, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, P&IDs, etc.
  • Participate in the preparation of Load Lists and perform electrical equipment sizing.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian/US electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Review, check, and approval of all engineering deliverables produced by the Electrical discipline including P.Eng. Stamping of electrical deliverables where needed.
  • Lead project(s) and act as the main point of contact with the Client and other external stakeholders for the electrical aspect of a project. Maintain continuous contact with clients to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Participate in the Technical and Commercial aspects of procurement for electrical equipment such as Switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, etc, including the preparation of electrical equipment specifications, data sheets and purchasing requisitions.
  • Perform witness testing as needed at the vendor's facility.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior and Intermediate Engineers/Designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering graduate
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • 7 to 10 years of experience with a focus on power supply for Mineral Processing Plants.
  • Obtain P.Eng. certification in other districts if required (e.g., Newfoundland and Labrador)
  • Proven advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and willingness to learn recent technologies and systems to streamline project delivery
  • Ability to use and oversee 3D based design
