Job Purpose

The Junior Accountant will provide day-to-day support to the Finance department by performing data entry, ledger reconciliations, transaction posting, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who is eager to grow their accounting skills within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Entry & Transaction Posting

Enter daily financial transactions into the accounting system accurately and timely.

Update journals, ledgers, and other accounting records.

Ensuring data integrity and consistency across all financial systems.

2. Ledger Reconciliations

Perform reconciliations for supplier ledgers, customer ledgers, and general ledger accounts.

Identify and resolve discrepancies by investigating incorrect entries or missing documentation.

Assist in month-end closing activities.

3. Financial Documentation & Filing

Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documents, receipts, invoices, and supporting schedules.

Support preparation of audit-ready files and documentation when required.

4. Accounts Payable & Receivable Support

Support invoice processing, supplier follow-ups, and payment preparation.

Assist in generating customer invoices and tracking outstanding receivables.

5. Reporting Support

Assist in preparing weekly and monthly financial reports.

Provide data and schedules requested by the Senior Accountant for management reporting.

6. Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure transactions comply with company policies and accounting standards.

Maintain confidentiality and uphold integrity in handling financial information.

7. Other Duties

Provide administrative support to the finance team where necessary.

Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

1-2 years of accounting or finance experience (internship experience is acceptable).

Experience with ledger reconciliations and financial data entry is an added advantage.

Basic understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Experience using accounting software such as Tally

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Integrity, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
