Job Purpose
The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance function by managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, proper reconciliations, and compliance with basic statutory requirements. The role is suited for a hands-on professional looking to grow within a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Record Management
- Prepare and issue EFRIS invoices in compliance with URA requirements.
- Record, post, and maintain financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
- Perform bank, mobile money, and cash reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Maintain proper accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documentation.
Payables, Receivables & Cash Handling
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
- Handle cash transactions while ensuring proper accountability and documentation.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables to support smooth cash flow.
Reporting & Compliance Support
- Assist in preparing basic financial reports and schedules.
- Support compliance with internal procedures and statutory requirements.
- Assist during audits and liaise with auditors, suppliers, and other stakeholders when required.
Administration & Support
- Maintain organized filing and record-keeping of financial documents.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Finance department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Management.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certification (CPA, ACCA – Level I or II) is an added advantage.
- 1–2 years relevant accounting experience.
- Familiarity with EFRIS and basic URA compliance.
- Basic proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, Quick books, Zoho books.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Integrity, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
