Job Purpose
The Chemical Engineer (Analytical Chemist) will be responsible for blending, testing, and quality assurance of lubricants and petroleum-based products in line with API, OEM, and UNBS standards. The role ensures product consistency, laboratory efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in blending and analytical processes.
Key Responsibilities
Blending & Production
- Undertake blending of oils and greases according to approved formulations and standards.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in blending processes in line with API/OEM requirements.
- Set up laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies for blending operations.
- Monitor batch processes to maintain quality and production efficiency.
Laboratory Management
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and proper upkeep of the laboratory.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
- Report equipment repair and maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain proper storage and handling of chemicals and materials.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Interpret and apply Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Conduct laboratory analysis to verify product specifications and compliance.
- Ensure products meet API, OEM, and UNBS lubricants industry standards.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and test results documentation.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze root causes of product complaints and recommend corrective actions.
- Support product improvement initiatives and formulation optimization.
- Develop project plans, scope, and schedules for chemical or blending projects.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and adherence to safety regulations.
- Maintain compliance with environmental and industry standards
Qualifications and Skills Required
Degree or Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or related fields.
Prior experience in the petroleum or lubricants industry is required.
Familiarity with API, OEM, and UNBS lubricants industry standards.
Hands-on experience in blending oils and greases is highly preferred.
