Position Summary
Are you a proactive sales hunter with a technical edge? We are seeking a Business Development Executive with a passion for selling cutting-edge environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance solutions. This role is ideal for a high-energy, goal-oriented individual who thrives on uncovering opportunities, developing new markets, and closing deals. You’ll be responsible for driving top-line growth through extensive lead generation, direct selling, and building channel relationships across environmental consulting, industrial, and government sectors.
This role is not account management it’s about hunting, building, demonstrating, and closing.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development & Hunting
Generate new leads through targeted outreach, networking, cold
calling, and digital prospecting.- Identify, contact, and win new customers consultants, municipalities, industrial firms, and engineering partners.
- Execute on monthly and quarterly sales activity goals (calls, demos, visits, quotes, closes).
Own the entire sales cycle from first contact to closed deal.
Face-to-Face Selling
Plan and conduct 10-12 in-person meetings per month.
- Visit Top 10 accounts quarterly and include one new prospect on every travel trip.
- Leverage meetings to progress deals, build relationships, and convert pipeline.
Solution Selling & Demonstrations
Understand technical applications of environmental monitoring systems (noise, air, water, emissions).
- Deliver compelling demos and hands-on solution presentations tailored to customer needs.
- Serve as the technical expert who can articulate the how and why of the solution.
Channel and Rep Enablement
- Build relationships with independent reps and distributors to penetrate new territories.
Train, coach, and collaborate with reps to drive deal velocity.
- Track opportunities with reps in CRM and ensure consistent funnel development.
CRM, Pipeline & Forecasting Discipline
Maintain an accurate, active sales pipeline in Zoho CRM
- Assign probabilities, expected close dates, and clearly define next steps.
- Submit monthly trip and activity reports including wins, opportunities, and feedback.
Strategic Collaboration
- Coordinate with product, marketing, and engineering teams to shape competitive offerings.
- Bring back market intelligence and customer pain points to guide messaging and roadmap.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of success in solution selling or technical business development (preferably in instrumentation, industrial, or environmental monitoring).
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to perform product demonstrations.
- Excellent hunter mentality with a track record of hitting or exceeding aggressive sales targets.
- Skilled in consultative sales and navigating complex stakeholder groups.
Proficient with CRM systems (preferably Zoho).
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with independent rep networks or channel partners.
Familiarity with IIoT platforms, sensors, or compliance-driven sales.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in air/water quality or environmental monitoring.
