About the job Bankruptcy Litigation & Restructuring Associate
ABOUT THE ROLE
A nationally recognized regional firm with a strong New York presence is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Bankruptcy Litigation and Restructuring practice. This is a high-visibility role offering direct client contact, meaningful courtroom exposure, and substantive work across chapter 11 cases, creditor committee representations, and distressed acquisitions — without the rigidity of an Am Law 50 environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage complex bankruptcy litigation from initial case strategy through trial and appeal
- Draft and argue motions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the S.D.N.Y. and E.D.N.Y.
- Advise debtors, creditors, and official committees on restructuring matters and plan negotiations
- Conduct depositions and lead discovery in adversary proceedings
- Collaborate with corporate colleagues on 363 sales and debtor-in-possession financing
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; strong academic credentials
- 3+ years of bankruptcy litigation or restructuring experience at a law firm
- Admission to the New York Bar in good standing
- Superior legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently under deadline pressure
WHAT WE OFFER
Competitive market compensation, a collegial mid-market culture with sophisticated deal flow, and a clear path toward partnership for high performers. Associates work alongside experienced practitioners across multiple offices nationally, providing broad exposure without the constraints of a mega-firm.
