About the job Deputy General Manager - Cranes, Heavy Transport & Equipment Rental
Our client is a well-established Tier 1 logistics enterprise headquartered in Dammam Saudi Arabia, operating a medium-sized fleet of premium-brand mobile hydraulic cranes, a heavy transportation division, and a broad range of onshore and offshore rental assets.
They seeki an accomplished Deputy General Manager to support the General Manager/Managing Director in driving operational excellence, commercial performance, and long-term business expansion. This is a pivotal leadership role offering high-level exposure to strategic decision-making, business development initiatives, and operational transformation, with the mandate to strengthen client partnerships, enhance fleet performance, and expand market share in a competitive sector.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day rental operations of cranes, heavy transport, and lifting equipment
- Ensure optimal fleet utilisation, preventive maintenance, and reduction of downtime
- Supervise logistics planning, resource deployment, and site operations
- Enforce QHSE compliance in line with statutory regulations and company policies
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Define and implement strategies to grow client base and market share
- Negotiate contracts, pricing models, and service agreements with key accounts
- Build and sustain strong relationships with EPC contractors, infrastructure developers, and industrial clients
- Identify new business opportunities across construction, oil & gas, power, and infrastructure sectors
Financial & Commercial Oversight
- Monitor revenues, operating costs, and divisional profitability
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and management performance reports
- Ensure timely billing, collections, and achievement of financial targets
- Optimise procurement, vendor relationships, and supply chain management
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate operations, technical, and field teams
- Drive recruitment, training, and upskilling programmes for safe equipment handling
- Implement structured performance management to enhance workforce efficiency
Strategic Support & Governance
- Support GM in business expansion, fleet modernisation, and diversification projects
- Drive technology adoption including ERP (SAP), fleet management, and GPS tracking systems
- Represent the company at industry forums, exhibitions, and client events
- Uphold robust corporate governance and compliance standards
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 1218 years proven experience in crane rental, equipment leasing, or heavy transport sectors
- Strong leadership background with track record in managing large technical teams
- Demonstrated expertise in business development, client management, and commercial negotiations
- Solid understanding of QHSE standards and regional regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred), fleet management platforms, and modern maintenance tools
- Financial acumen with strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency an advantage
