Director of Sales
Job Description:
Lotus Group is proud to partner with our Edmonton-based client, an insurance provider serving a specialized niche market in search of a Director of Sales. Our client provides insurance solutions and group employee benefits designed to protect the health and wealth of their members. The role focuses on people leadership, sales effectiveness, forecasting discipline, and delivering a consistent, high-quality member experience. This is a leadership and management role, not an individual contributor sales role. We are looking for a builder who loves to design and implement sales functions from the ground up. Building scalable onboarding, documentation, and training programs that improve consistency and performance across their growing sales team is key.
Backed by strong, people-focused leadership from the CEO to the Director of Operations, our client is committed to building a high-performing, collaborative, and service-driven team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a growth-minded sales leader who is passionate about helping others and shaping the future of a growing organization.
Role Responsibilities
Build, lead, and scale the organizations sales function across both B2C and B2B channels. Broker experience considered an asset.
Design and implement the full sales strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational vision, annual priorities, and growth goals.
Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, contributing to planning and high-level organizational decisions.
Lead with a hunter mindset—driving net-new business, opening new opportunities, and expanding market presence.
Foster a deeply collaborative, team-first culture where communication, support, and shared success are central.
Build scalable onboarding, documentation, and training programs to improve consistency and elevate performance across the team.
Create segmentation, targeting, and engagement approaches aligned with growth objectives.
Establish sales processes, workflows, playbooks, and systems required to scale effectively.
Set clear performance expectations and goals for advisors.
Implement consistent management rhythms including one-on-ones, coaching, and performance reviews.
Lead recruitment for all sales advisors; build and maintain a strong talent pipeline.
Own sales forecasting, KPI development, and performance insights used for strategic decision-making.
Oversee CRM strategy, data integrity, reporting practices, and sales quality standards.
Champion exceptional customer service and member experience, ensuring professionalism and brand integrity at every touchpoint.
Provide market intelligence, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for innovation.
Support long-term strategic growth planning and organizational scaling.
Demonstrate passion for helping others, dedication to strong relationships, and enthusiasm for building a best-in-class sales function.
Role Requirements
Must hold a valid Alberta Life & Accident & Sickness (LLQP) insurance licence.
Minimum 7 years of industry experience in insurance sales or business development.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing sales teams.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies for both B2C and B2B markets.
Strong hunter mentality with the ability to generate new business and expand market reach.
Track record of coaching, developing, and inspiring sales teams.
Deep commitment to a collaborative TEAM culture. Alignment, communication, and shared success are essential.
Passion for exceptional service; strong emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills.
Strong operational discipline in forecasting, CRM management, and sales reporting.
Builder mindset. Comfortable creating processes, structure, and infrastructure from the ground up.
High professionalism, integrity, and dedication to supporting clients and members.
Compensation
A comprehensive compensation package will accompany the successful candidate. Starting salary range is 140K - 165K based on experience and qualifications.
