Business Development Manager

Lotus Group is proud to partner with our Ottawa-based client, a leader in commercial interiors, contract furniture, construction, project management and installation services. The successful Business Development professional will drive strategic growth within the professional office design, construction, and commercial interiors sector. This role is centered on new business development, relationship cultivation, and revenue expansion.
Experience in design, technical sales, or commercial office environments is considered a strong asset, as this role requires an understanding of workplace design, construction processes, and integrated project delivery.

The Business Development Manager works closely with internal teams including design, project management, customer experience, operations, and finance to ensure seamless project fulfillment and an exceptional customer journey.

Role Responsibilities

Develop new business relationships and identify strategic opportunities within target markets.
Maintain, strengthen, and grow relationships with existing clients and key account contacts.
Provide accurate monthly forecasting and manage a healthy sales pipeline.
Explore and develop new business opportunities within targeted and annuity accounts.
Stay current with the companys service offerings, product lines, and new solutions (including leasing programs and Falkbuilt).
Remain informed about industry trends, competitor pricing, and competitive product mixes.
Achieve or exceed annual revenue targets while maintaining required margins and implementing gross-profit-enhancing strategies.
Participate in industry events such as CEUs, product launches, and A+D industry engagements.
Attend client events, training sessions, and trade shows as required.
Represent the company in the marketplacebuilding networks with A&D firms, general contractors, engineering firms, consultants, PM firms, and commercial real estate partners.
Build strong relationships with new and existing manufacturer representatives.
Present and position company programs and service offerings to clients in a strategic, value-driven manner.
Attend industry functions (e.g., ARIDO, trade shows, industry mixers) to strengthen brand presence and maintain industry knowledge.

Role Requirements

Experience working collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, engineers, and internal cross-functional teams.

Knowledge of commercial office design, furniture systems, construction processes, or technical sales is a significant asset.
Ability to understand and communicate technical design elements, product details, and construction-related considerations.
Proven ability to identify, pursue, and close strategic business opportunities.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to act quickly and effectively when opportunities or competitive threats arise.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including client presentations and relationship management.
Highly organized, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities across design, operations, and customer delivery functions.
A team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
