Operations Manager

Lotus Group is proud to partner with our valued client, a well-established and growing custom manufacturer of elevator and lift systems, to identify an Operations Manager based out of their Edmonton office.

The Operations Manager will drive production excellence and lead the growing team in our Edmonton-based facility. As the operational heartbeat of the business, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and has a passion for leading teams and optimizing production in a hands-on manufacturing setting.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of plant operations and multiple product lines from shop floor leadership to health and safety compliance to capacity planning while playing a pivotal role in executing their bold growth strategy.

This is a full-time, on-site position in West Edmonton for someone eager to lead with initiative, build trust with a dedicated shop team, and champion process improvement from the ground up.

Role Responsibilities

  • Direct all plant operations, ensuring daily production targets and quality standards are met.
  • Oversee end-to-end deliverables across production stages, from sales to engineering handoff to shipping.
  • Serve as the operational link between sales, engineering, production and installation teams to align on project execution and delivery timelines.
  • Participate in executive-level planning to support long-term scalability through equipment upgrades and workforce development.
  • Lead initiatives to introduce new product lines or expand existing ones in alignment with the companys strategic goals.
  • Regularly assess current and forecasted capacity needs; collaborate with team leads to adjust staffing and scheduling based on demand fluctuations and on-time delivery targets.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of Team Leads and 35-40 production/shop staff and foremen across multiple assembly and fabrication lines.
  • Build operational trust and credibility by learning and contributing hands-on.
  • Optimize operational workflows and processes with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Support the roll-out and adoption of a new ERP system helping to define SOPs, improve tracking, and enable smarter data-driven decisions.
  • Assume overall responsibility for Health and Safety related to the building/manufacturing facility, including chairing the internal Health & Safety Committee and ensuring compliance with relevant industry regulations (CSA B355/B44, ASME, etc.).
  • Lead toolbox meetings and actively promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Champion a high-performance, accountable culture that aligns with their values of innovation, safety, and reliability.

Role Requirements

  • Ability to work full time in-office.
  • Industry knowledge in a manufacturing, construction, equipment, or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams of 20+.
  • Comfortable working within the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (CSA B44, B355, ASME) and compliance requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation, including the OHS Act, Regulation, and Code.
  • Proven success conducting safety audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, implementing corrective action, leading toolbox meetings, and promoting safety culture across diverse teams.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
  • Experience in a semi-custom or batch-production environment is preferred.
  • Skilled at building shop-floor rapport while enforcing standards and operational discipline.
  • Hands-on understanding of production, scheduling, quality control, and shop safety.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading through change with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of fostering positive team culture and high performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Education or training in engineering, project management, or leadership is considered an asset; however, equivalent hands-on experience will also be taken into consideration.
