Our client is a forward-thinking business based in Rochdale with an expanding internal IT team. With two apprentices already secured, they are now looking for an experienced Helpdesk Technician to provide hands-on technical support and help mentor junior staff. Position details:
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience

Role overview:

This role is ideal for a Level II/III Technician with at least three years experience in an IT helpdesk or support role. Youll be confident troubleshooting a range of technical issues across hardware, software, and networking, and be comfortable taking ownership of tasks while supporting others.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to internal users

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and networking

  • Escalate complex issues where necessary and follow up to resolution

  • Mentor and support junior staff, including apprentices

  • Maintain accurate documentation of tickets, systems, and procedures

  • Support continuous improvement of IT systems and processes

Experience and skills required:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar IT support/helpdesk role

  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows environments and Office 365

  • Basic networking understanding (routers, switches, VPNs, etc.)

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach

  • Organised, reliable, and proactive

  • Full UK driving licence preferred

Desirable:

  • Relevant IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL etc.)

  • Previous experience mentoring or training junior team member
