Our client is currently seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team and ensure the optimal performance and maintenance of their excavators.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Chief Mechanic will lead and manage a team of mechanics, ensuring the efficient scheduling, coordination, and execution of equipment maintenance and repair across various job sites. This role requires a blend of advanced technical expertise, leadership capabilities, team development skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanics, providing technical guidance and training.
• Coordinate and schedule mechanics' activities and tasks across multiple job sites to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and accountability within the team.

Maintenance and Inspection Oversight:

• Oversee and coordinate regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and necessary repairs of heavy machinery and excavators.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.

Technical and Repair Management:

• Provide advanced technical expertise on hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components.
• Ensure effective collaboration with operational teams to minimize equipment downtime and disruption.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Ensure timely reporting of equipment performance issues, safety concerns, and maintenance schedules.

Safety and Compliance:

• Enforce strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Maintain equipment and tools in optimal working condition, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in mechanics or related fields highly preferred.
• Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance, with proven leadership experience managing teams of mechanics.
• Strong expertise with excavators, heavy machinery, and associated mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and complex mechanical diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
