The Role:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a healthcare company headquartered in Accra, Ghana will report directly to the CEO and serve as a member of the Executive Management Team. This position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization's operational and administrative functions on a day-to-day basis. The COO works directly with the CEO to develop and implement organizational strategies, policies, and practices.

Mission:

To serve as a visionary leader who strategizes for the day-to-day operational efficiency of the entire business and cost-effectively delivers the services whiles driving extensive and sustainable growth and scale of the business.

Reports To:

  • Chief Executive Office

Direct Reports:

  • Head of Occupational Health & Wellness
  • Head of Digital
  • Head of Molecular & Diagnostic Centers
  • Sales, Growth & Innovations

Work Experience:

Should have at least 10-15 years of working experience in practices, policies, and procedures of relevance in the field of operations.

  • Corporate Planning efforts: Drawing Budget Plans, Strategic Plans, etc.

Qualifications:

Educational

  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field;
  • MSc/MBA will be an advantage

Knowledge

  • Understanding of business functions such as Marketing, HR, Finance, etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Working knowledge of Research and Development methods
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills, good business acumen, and exemplary work ethics.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving

Main Duties:

  • Identify, prioritize, and solve ongoing business requirements for a rapidly growing B2B and B2C healthcare marketplace.
  • Present operational strategy recommendations to the CEO based on experience and market research.
  • Oversee and evaluate day-to-day operations and customer experience.
  • Support the business on go-to-market strategy for early concepts, from planning to implementation to delivery.
  • Monitor our external environment (e.g., market conditions, competitive pressures, regulatory landscape) and establish and respond to implications for the business.
  • Drive alignment on priorities across key business functions through our strategic planning.
  • Design and implement business strategies, plans, and procedures.
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth for the company and the team.
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision.
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of the subsidiary business leads.
  • Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Write and submit reports to the CEO on all matters of importance.
  • Assist the CFO with financial projections and analyses of existing programs and policies.
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances, etc.).
  • Continually work to identify operational gaps and inefficiencies and implement process improvements and best practices to optimize effectiveness and quality of service.
  • Helm budgeting and resource allocation efforts alongside the other C-level executives and the senior management team.
