Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the architecture, scalability, and resilience of our core platform services. In this role, you will design high-performance distributed systems, optimize data infrastructure, and set technical standards across the engineering team while mentoring mid-level talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect & Build: Design, implement, and maintain low-latency, resilient microservices and high-throughput gRPC/RESTful APIs.
- System Scalability: Optimize database queries, caching strategies, and data storage to support rapid user growth and heavy concurrency.
- Technical Leadership: Lead architectural RFCs, drive technical decisions, and enforce high code quality standards through constructive peer reviews.
- Reliability & Performance: Monitor system health, diagnose complex distributed bugs, and ensure standard 99.99% system availability targets.
- Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with SRE/DevOps teams to build automated CI/CD pipelines, manage containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes), and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
Key Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a heavy focus on backend architecture.
- Core Tech Stack: Advanced proficiency in at least one primary backend language (Go, Python, Java, Rust, or Node.js/TypeScript).
- Data Systems: Deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) alongside memory-store/NoSQL systems (Redis, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
- Distributed Architectures: Proven experience building event-driven, asynchronous processing systems using message brokers (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS).
- Engineering Standards: Mastery of automated testing (TDD), API design best practices, security protocols (OAuth2, JWT), and Git workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scaling high-volume platforms handling millions of daily active users or financial micro-transactions.
- Direct experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Active contributor to open-source software or standard-setting technical communities.
