We have recently launched an exciting new fund, the AI for Impact Fund, dedicated to providing grants to Artificial Intelligence start-ups in Africa and South Asia. This fund aims to harness the power of AI to address critical challenges and foster sustainable development in the region.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer based in Bangladesh to play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the AI for Impact Fund. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking initiative at the intersection of technology and social impact. The successful candidate will possess strong financial acumen, excellent organizational skills, a solid understanding of organizational governance, and fluency in English. This role requires a flexible work approach, with the possibility of working from home for most of the week, but with a requirement to be present at the Mannion Daniels Dhaka office at least once per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grantee Budget Support:
    • Work closely with grantees to develop comprehensive and realistic budgets for their AI for Impact projects.
    • Provide guidance and support to grantees on financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Due Diligence:
    • Assist in the due diligence process for potential new grantees, ensuring their financial stability, accountability, and compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
    • Review financial statements, organizational documents, and other relevant information to assess the suitability of grantee organizations.
  • Administrative Follow-up on Organizational Strengthening Measures:
    • Support the administrative aspects of organizational strengthening plans for grantees.
    • Track progress on agreed-upon measures and provide follow-up to ensure timely implementation.
    • Assist in the coordination of training and capacity-building activities for grantees.
  • Financial Administration:
    • Process grantee payments and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for the fund.
    • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with Mannion Daniels' financial policies and procedures.
  • Communication and Coordination:
    • Serve as a key point of contact for grantees on financial and administrative matters.
    • Communicate effectively with the Fund Manager and other team members.
    • Support the organization of meetings and workshops as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the NGO sector or grant-making organizations.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of organizational governance and compliance requirements for NGOs.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with financial due diligence processes for NGOs is desirable.
  • Experience in supporting organizational strengthening initiatives is an advantage.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position in the Bangladesh market is expected to be between BDT 200,000 to BDT 700,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This range includes base salary and any applicable allowances.
