Tank Cleaner
Manpower is seeking to recruit a reliable and physically capable Tank Cleaner to join a reputable organisation operating within the marine and industrial services sector. This is a hands-on role for individuals who are comfortable working in challenging environments, including confined spaces, and who take pride in maintaining high safety and operational standards.
Role Overview
The Tank Cleaner will support cleaning, degassing, and maintenance operations on marine and industrial tanks, working under the supervision of the Tank Cleaning Foreman. The role requires strict adherence to safety procedures and the ability to operate various cleaning and pumping equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Tank & Equipment Cleaning

Perform manual and mechanical cleaning of fuel, ballast, sludge, and water tanks

Operate pumps, high-pressure washers, vacuum units, and related equipment

Assist with chemical cleaning, degassing, and residue removal
Safety & Compliance
- Follow safety protocols including confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements

Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and emergency drills

Assist with tank ventilation and gas testing as instructed

Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
Support & Teamwork

Assist the Foreman with equipment setup, inspection, and dismantling

Work closely with technicians and site personnel to ensure efficient job completion

Maintain the cleanliness of tools, work areas, and vehicles
Documentation & Reporting

Record job details, including materials used, working times, and safety checks

Ensure proper waste handling, labeling, and disposal as per environmental guidelines

Report equipment faults or maintenance needs promptly
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in industrial or marine cleaning, waste management, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of confined space entry and hazardous material handling (training provided)

Ability to operate or assist with high-pressure cleaning, pumping, and vacuum systems

Physically fit and comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in PPE

Good communication skills, reliability, and strong teamwork abilities

A valid driving licence is preferred
Preferred Certifications
(Training provided if not already certified)

Confined Space Entry and Rescue

HAZWOPER 24/40 Hour
