Overview
Manpower is seeking to recruit a Head of Accounting to join our client's team. The Head of Accounting will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, overseeing banking activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will play a key part in financial reporting, process automation, project management, and leading a high-performing accounting team.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Policies & Procedures: Develop and maintain documented accounting policies to ensure compliance with regulations. Lead automation of accounting processes within the ERP system (MS Navision).
  • Supplier & Contractor Management: Act as main contact for key contractors and ERP system providers. Collaborate closely with IT and procurement to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Leadership & Project Management: Lead ad hoc projects such as system implementations and process improvements. Recruit, train, and mentor accounting staff to build a collaborative, high-performance team.
  • Accounts Payable: Oversee accounts payable processes, approve reconciliations, ensure timely supplier payments, and manage internet banking processes. Monitor bank days for cargo settlements.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Approve reconciliations, liaise with external auditors, prepare financial statements and audit schedules, and ensure compliance with excise tax, income tax, and Intrastat requirements.
  • Financial Controls & Process Improvement: Strengthen internal controls, approve purchase requests, and align accounting practices with procurement and budgeting processes.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare financial reports and analysis for key stakeholders. Maintain monthly payment calendar, oversee director-level disbursements, and perform related-party reconciliations.
  • Month-End Closing & Management Accounts: Lead month-end close, prepare consolidated accounts, maintain fixed asset register, and ensure accurate stock valuations. Review accounting schedules, journal entries, and lease/loan obligations.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent); MBA or advanced certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar senior accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAPSME principles.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and ERP systems (MS Navision preferred).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, with confidence engaging across all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and managing projects.
  • Industry experience within the energy sector considered an asset.
