Manpower is seeking to recruit an experienced Scaffolder to join a reputable organisation operating within the marine and shipyard industry. This full-time role involves supporting maintenance, refit, and repair works on yachts, superyachts, and other marine vessels by safely erecting, modifying, and dismantling scaffolding structures in a dynamic shipyard environment.

Role Overview

The Scaffolder will be responsible for building safe and secure scaffolding systems, conducting inspections, and working closely with multiple trades to ensure safe access to work areas. The role requires strong safety awareness, physical fitness, and the ability to work at heights and in outdoor conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Scaffold Erection & Dismantling

  • Assemble, position, and secure scaffolding systems for vessel maintenance and refit work
  • Dismantle scaffolding safely and efficiently once projects are completed

  • Build and adjust scaffold structures to accommodate complex vessel shapes and varying heights

Inspection & Safety

  • Carry out daily inspections to ensure scaffolds are secure, stable, and compliant with safety standards
  • Maintain proper signage, access points, guardrails, and fall-protection measures

  • Report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions immediately

Coordination & Support

  • Collaborate with carpenters, welders, painters, engineers, and other trades on project access needs
  • Assist in planning and laying out scaffolding requirements for upcoming projects

  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and storage of scaffolding materials

Compliance & Documentation

  • Adhere to company and international safety standards such as EN 12811 and OSHA guidelines
  • Complete scaffolding permits, inspection logs, and handover documentation

  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and relevant training

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in scaffolding, ideally within a shipyard, construction, or industrial setting
  • Valid Scaffolding Competence Certificate or equivalent qualification

  • Strong understanding of scaffold types, fittings, and structural configurations

  • Ability to read and interpret scaffold drawings and safety documentation

  • Physically fit and able to work at heights and outdoors

  • Strong communication skills and a high level of safety awareness
