WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
Most "YouTube manager" roles are upload monkeys. You're handed a finished video, you slap on a title someone else wrote, you publish, you log off.
Market Leaders doesn't work that way.
We have the cameras, the editors, and the founders who know the material cold. What we don't have is one person who owns the **thinking** — the person who decides what we make, why anyone would click, and whether the channel actually grows.
That's you.
You are not here to edit. You are here to run the engine. You plan the slate with the team, you brief the people who shoot and edit, you write the titles and direct the thumbnails that decide whether a video lives or dies, and you read the analytics like a scoreboard.
If you've grown a channel before and you think in CTR, retention, and packaging — not just in pretty cuts — read on.
This is a fully remote role for someone who wants to own a number, not wait for instructions.
ABOUT MARKET LEADERS
Market Leaders is a Singapore-based social media consulting company. We help high-performing operators — property agents doing $500M+ in deals, financial advisors with established ad systems, business owners building real personal brands — turn their expertise into content that compounds.
We teach the 5 C's: Character, Content, Community, Convert, Client. We believe in systems, not willpower. Peaceful and profitable. World-class, no compromise.
This role is for **our own channels** — the Market Leaders brand channel plus our founders' long-form. You're building the flagship that proves what we teach. The bar is set.
TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE
**Base Salary:** SGD $2,000/month
**What's Included**
- Fully remote — work from anywhere, as long as you overlap Singapore working hours (SGT)
- Direct line to the founders and the content team you'll be directing
- Market Leaders training on hooks, packaging, retention, and short-form/long-form strategy
- The tools you need to do the job (analytics, scheduling, thumbnail collaboration, AI ideation)
- Ownership of a real channel's growth number — not a faceless task queue
**Work Benefits**
- Results-focused, not clock-watching — we judge the channel's numbers, not your hours online
- Clear monthly scoreboard so you always know where you stand
- Real budget exposure: your packaging gets tested with real distribution
**Path Forward**
- Prove you can grow the number, and the scope grows with you — more channels, a bigger team to direct, and a senior content-lead track
- This is a long-term seat for the right operator, not a gig
THE 4Rs — YOUR ROLE BREAKDOWN
### 1. ROLE — The Mission
Own Market Leaders' long-form YouTube engine end to end.
You plan what we make, you direct the team that films and edits it, you package it so people click and stay, and you grow the channel on the strength of the analytics. You are the brain of the operation — the editors are the hands.
Every video serves a business objective:
- Position Market Leaders and our founders as the trusted authority in their space
- Earn the click (title + thumbnail) and hold the watch (structure + pacing)
- Turn our frameworks and founder insight into long-form people actually finish
- Feed the short-form machine — every long-form becomes Shorts and cross-platform clips
You will use AI to ideate and research faster, but the taste and the calls are yours.
### 2. RESPONSIBILITIES — The Day-to-Day Work
**Strategy & Ideation — 30%**
- Plan the monthly long-form slate *with the team* — what we make, in what order, and why
- Research topics, search demand, and competitor channels to find angles worth filming
- Turn founder material and frameworks into clear briefs and outlines the team can shoot
- Bring a point of view to every video: who it's for, the hook, the payoff
**Packaging — Titles & Thumbnails — 25%**
- Write multiple title options per video and test them — this is the single biggest CTR lever
- Direct thumbnail concepts (brief the designer; you own the concept, not the Photoshop)
- Own click-through rate as a metric you're personally accountable for
- Keep a swipe file of what's working and feed it back into the next slate
**Production Direction — 25%**
- Brief the shooters and editors against your outline, then QC the cut against the brief
- Run the content calendar and pipeline so videos ship on a predictable cadence
- Unblock the team, chase what's stuck, and keep the machine moving
- Maintain a repeatable production system, not one-off heroics
**Channel Management & Analytics — 20%**
- Publish with proper titles, descriptions, tags, chapters, end-screens, and playlists
- Live in YouTube Studio: read CTR, average view duration, retention curves, and traffic sources
- Turn each long-form into Shorts and repurpose across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Report the numbers and the next move — what we'll change and why
### 3. RESULTS — What Success Looks Like
**Foundation Phase — Month 1**
- Know the channels, the founders' voices, and the back catalogue cold
- Ship the first slate you planned end to end — briefed, filmed, edited, packaged, published
- Stand up a working content calendar and a titles/thumbnails packaging system
- Establish the baseline: current CTR, AVD, and retention, so we know what we're improving
*This phase is about learning the brand, the material, and the team rhythm.*
**Growth Phase — Month 3**
- Hold a consistent publishing cadence with no missed weeks
- Show a measurable lift in CTR and/or average view duration vs. baseline
- Run a repeatable packaging system the team can follow without you in every detail
- Reliably turn each long-form into Shorts and cross-platform clips
*This phase is where you stop reacting and start driving the channel.*
**Long-Term Impact — Month 6**
- Own the channel number — views, subscribers, retention — with minimal founder input
- Direct the team to ship the slate on cadence while you stay focused on strategy + packaging
- Demonstrate channel growth attributable to your packaging and slate decisions
- Be trusted to take on more channels and a bigger team
*This phase is where the channel runs as a system you own, not a series of one-offs.*
### 4. REQUIREMENTS — The Must-Haves
**Experience**
- Demonstrable track record growing a YouTube channel (yours or a client's) — show the before/after
- Hands-on experience writing and testing titles and directing thumbnails for CTR
- Experience directing a remote content team (editors, designers, shooters) against briefs
- Strong grasp of long-form structure, hooks, and retention — and how Shorts feed the main channel
**Skills**
- Fluent in YouTube Studio analytics — CTR, AVD, retention, traffic sources, and what to do about each
- Comfortable using AI tools for ideation, research, scripting support, and repurposing
- Strong written and spoken English — you'll be briefing a team and the founders daily
- Comfortable with a project-management tool (Notion, Asana, ClickUp, or similar)
**Work Arrangement**
- Fully remote, but you must overlap core Singapore working hours (SGT) for briefs and reviews
- Reliable laptop and internet — you run the pipeline, you can't drop offline
- Able to commit long-term, not a short gig between other things
**Work Style**
- Ownership mentality — you treat the channel's growth like your own business
- Self-managed — nobody is going to watch over your shoulder; the numbers do that
- Decisive on packaging — you form opinions and test them, you don't wait to be told
- Open to feedback and fast iteration — you'd rather hear "this missed" than "this is fine"
WHAT MAKES YOU THE PERFECT FIT
**You Think in Numbers, Not Just Aesthetics**
You don't ask "is the video done?" You ask "will this title earn the click, and will the first 30 seconds keep them?" CTR and retention are your scoreboard.
**You've Actually Grown a Channel**
You can point to a channel you moved — views, subs, watch time — and explain *why* it grew. You know the difference between a video that got lucky and a system that compounds.
**You Direct Without Doing It All Yourself**
You're comfortable handing the camera and the timeline to the team and getting what you wanted through a clear brief and honest QC. You scale through people, not through your own keyboard.
**You Live in the Packaging**
You have opinions on titles and thumbnails. You can look at any channel and explain what you'd change to lift the click. You collect what works.
**You Use AI to Move Faster**
You're not scared of AI. You use it to research, ideate, and repurpose faster — and you know it sharpens your taste, it doesn't replace it.
**You Communicate Proactively**
A remote team only works if you flag things early. If footage is weak, you say so. If the slate's slipping, you raise it before it's a problem.
**You Crave Improvement**
You don't take a flat video personally. You read the retention graph, find the drop-off, and fix it next time.
HOW TO APPLY
**1. Email**
Send your application to: **hiring@marketleaderz.com**
Subject line: **YouTube Strategist — [Your Name]**
**2. Include These 3 Things**
**Channel Proof**
- Link to a YouTube channel you've grown or managed, with rough before/after numbers (views, subs, watch time)
- 2-3 examples of titles + thumbnails you packaged, and what the CTR did
- Optional but useful: an example where you used AI in your workflow
**Brief Response — 4 to 6 Sentences**
> *"Pick one YouTube channel in the business, finance, property, or coaching space that you think is packaged well. Name 3 things they do well that most channels in their niche do badly — and 1 thing you would change about their titles or thumbnails to lift the click. Be specific. Point to actual videos."*
This is the most important part of your application. We're hiring for strategic thinking, not just upload skills. Generic feedback = skipped application.
**Resume/CV**
PDF format only.
**3. Paid Trial — If Shortlisted**
We'll give you Market Leaders' positioning and one topic. You'll deliver a 30-day mini content plan:
- 5 long-form video concepts, each with 3 title options and a thumbnail direction
- One full video outline (hook structure payoff CTA)
- A short plan for repurposing that video into Shorts and cross-platform clips
- Turnaround: 72 hours from receipt of the brief
- Paid regardless of outcome
The trial isn't testing whether you can fill a template. It's testing whether you can think like a channel owner — pick angles that earn clicks, structure for retention, and run a system.
**4. Interview**
- 30-minute video call with the Market Leaders team
- A short live packaging exercise — we hand you a topic, you talk us through titles and thumbnail angles
- Decision before offer
