A nationally recognized, multi-office law firm is seeking an experienced Partner-Level Employment Attorney to join its growing Employment Practice Group. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a firm that combines national reach with a collaborative, close-knit team culture.

The firm's Employment Practice Group serves a broad client base including Fortune 500 companies, insurance carriers, municipalities, healthcare providers, and mid-sized businesses. The successful candidate will serve as a senior litigator and team leader — managing complex employment matters from investigation through resolution while mentoring the next generation of attorneys.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as first-chair trial counsel in complex employment matters
  • Lead strategy, case management, and litigation from investigation through resolution
  • Work extensively with expert witnesses in preparing cases for trial
  • Handle depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
  • Supervise and mentor associate attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants
  • Collaborate across practice groups on multi-disciplinary matters
  • Travel as needed for client meetings, depositions, and trials
  • Provide proactive, strategic legal counsel to clients at every stage

Key Qualifications

  1. J.D. from an accredited law school
  2. Licensed and in good standing in a Midwestern state and corresponding federal courts
  3. 10+ years of litigation experience, including 6–8 years in employment law (plaintiff or defense)
  4. Demonstrated experience working with expert witnesses in litigation
  5. Strong legal writing, organization, and case management skills
  6. Exceptional communication skills with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
  7. Ability to manage high-volume work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines
  8. Track record of meeting or exceeding billable hours and revenue expectations
  9. Portable book of business is a plus, but not required

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: Commensurate with experience

Bonus: Discretionary opportunity

Billable Target: ~1,650 hours/year

Time Off: Generous PTO
