About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Out of Hours Care Coordinator to join our dedicated homecare team in Cape Town.
This vital role ensures smooth coordination and delivery of care services outside of standard office hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
The successful candidate will take ownership of staff scheduling, shift bookings, and real-time service management during out-of-hours periods, ensuring all client care needs are met promptly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Manage and update staff rotas and ensure all shifts are covered during nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Handle incoming calls from clients, families, and care staff, ensuring all enquiries are dealt with promptly and professionally.
Allocate appropriate care workers to client visits based on skills, experience, and client requirements.
Maintain up-to-date records of bookings, cancellations, and changes on the care management system.
Respond to short-notice shift cancellations by sourcing and confirming suitable cover.
Ensure client continuity of care by proactively managing staffing levels and call schedules.
Work closely with the daytime coordination and on-call management teams to ensure a seamless handover.
Escalate urgent matters, incidents, or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate senior staff.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 2 years experience in a homecare coordination, bookings, or scheduling role (community or domiciliary care).
Previous experience supporting service users with Mental Health and/or Learning Disabilities.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Confident using care management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong understanding of homecare regulations, safeguarding, and risk management.
Must be available for night shifts, weekends, and public holidays as part of a rota.
