Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and committed Residential Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team supporting children and young people aged 8 - 17 in an Ofsted-regulated residential care home.
This is a key leadership role where you will lead shifts, mentor junior staff, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care. Working closely with the management team, you will help maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports children with emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties (EBD).
You must have recent experience working in an Ofsted-inspected children's home and be confident in meeting the standards outlined in the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsteds Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF).
Responsibilities

Lead by example in delivering consistent, therapeutic, and trauma-informed care

Act as a shift leader, coordinating staff, overseeing routines, and managing incidents effectively

Support the emotional and behavioural needs of young people using positive behaviour strategies

Build strong, trusting relationships with children through key working and daily support

Support children with daily routines, including school, appointments, social activities, and life skills

Maintain detailed and accurate records, including daily logs, risk assessments, and care plans

Supervise and mentor junior support workers, promoting professional development and good practice

Assist in planning and attending childrens reviews, professional meetings, and staff handovers

Ensure all safeguarding concerns are responded to in line with policy and reported appropriately

Play a supporting role in Ofsted inspections, contributing to documentation and regulatory compliance

Work collaboratively with the management team to uphold the highest standards of care and service
Requirements

Minimum of 18 months experience in a children's residential care setting

Previous experience as a Shift Leader or Senior Support Worker

Experience working in an Ofsted-regulated childrens home, with understanding of inspection requirements

Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed care

Ability to lead shifts confidently and manage challenging situations professionally

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Willing and able to work a flexible rota, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins

Full right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)

Full UK driving licence (preferred)
Desirable
-
Experience supporting children with ADHD, ASD, attachment disorders, or complex trauma

Training in Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA, or Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Experience contributing to Ofsted inspections, audits, or regulatory improvement plans
-
A desire to progress into Deputy Manager or Registered Manager roles in the future
