I'm seeking a seasoned Surgery Center Administrator to lead a high-performing, state-of-the-art multispecialty Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in California. This facility houses 4 operating rooms and performs a broad range of procedures including General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Colorectal, Pain Management, ENT, Podiatry, and Hand Surgery.
What Were Looking For:
Were targeting candidates with strong ASC leadership experience. We will also consider experienced hospital surgical leaders who have had direct oversight or involvement with outpatient surgery operations. Orthopedics experience is a major plus.
Role Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the centers operations clinical, financial, and administrative while ensuring patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and the continued growth and profitability of the center.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Compliance
- Manage daily operations and act as liaison between the governing board, medical staff, and departments
- Maintain compliance with accreditation and government regulations
- Oversee purchasing, budgeting, and staffing strategies
- Present monthly operations reviews to home office leadership
Staff & Culture Leadership
- Direct hiring, orientation, training, and performance management for clinical and administrative staff
- Foster a collaborative work culture and maintain efficient staffing levels aligned with case volume
- Lead monthly staff meetings and support ongoing professional development
Financial Oversight
- Develop and control operational and capital budgets
- Monitor facility financial performance and manage external contracts
- Lead pricing strategies based on cost analysis and local market trends
Quality & Clinical Services
- Lead clinical departments (nursing, central supply, medical records, housekeeping)
- Oversee third-party services including lab, radiology, pharmaceuticals, and biomed
- Implement quality improvement programs and infection control initiatives
Physician Relations & Strategic Growth
- Support credentialing and medical staff coordination
- Work closely with the Medical Director on service line development
- Build and execute growth-focused sales and marketing strategies
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required (Masters or Nursing degree preferred)
- Minimum 3 years in a top administrative/management role in a large ASC
- Proven leadership in a multi-specialty or orthopedic-focused surgery center
- Strong operational, financial, and regulatory knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
