We're working with a 59-bed acute primary care hospital in the High Desert of California that is actively seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the skilled nursing and long-term care services. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for a seasoned RN ready to step into a senior role with strong administrative support and a mission-driven team.
This facility provides a full range of services including inpatient and outpatient care, home health, hospice, and community outreach programs. The team is dedicated to delivering high-quality care close to home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the nursing program in collaboration with the CNO/COO, ensuring high standards of resident and patient care.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Supervise nursing managers and provide direction to staff across long-term care services.
- Conduct daily rounds on residents, nursing teams, and families to ensure strong clinical outcomes and satisfaction.
- Participate in care conferences, CQI meetings, and interdisciplinary planning.
- Oversee operational and capital budget planning.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Medical Director, staff physicians, and the acute hospital team.
- Monitor regulatory compliance and support survey readiness.
- Represent the facility through marketing efforts, outreach, and relationship-building within the community.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license (California) and CPR certification required.
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or acute care setting.
- At least 3 years of nursing leadership/management experience.
