About the job Growth Lead - India
Role Overview:
We're looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial Growth Lead for India to spearhead our on-ground sourcing infrastructure and partnerships. This person will be critical in ramping up our sourcing capabilities and building a world-class logistics operation. This person will interface closely with both our science-driven carbon removal operations, and with the commercial ecosystem needed to scale up the deployments across the Indian States including crusher owners, trucking and logistics operators, operational partners, and local government ministries and the NGO stakeholders.
You'll thrive in this role if you have a strong commercial instinct, a field-first mindset, and can tackle negotiations with crusher owners and talk to truck drivers. You'll be in the field 25 to 40% of the time, building partnerships that drive scale and efficiency for our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing Partner Development
- Originate, select and build relationships with crusher owners, trucking and logistics companies, local vendors, and franchise partners.
- Negotiate commercial terms and execute MOUs, rate cards, and SLAs for services and inputs.
Field Expansion
- Scout and develop new deployment regions across India.
- Evaluate basalt sources, logistical feasibility, and farmer readiness in new geographies.
Operational Enablement
- Serve as the on-ground liaison to ensure smooth coordination of material flow from mines to fields.
- Support last-mile deployment by working with Matis logistics, agronomy, and tech teams.
Strategic Growth Projects
- Work with leadership to identify high-impact partnerships across agri-input firms, government schemes, and local NGOs.
- Support development of commercial pilots and revenue opportunities with local institutions.
Reporting, Quality control & Compliance
- Maintain structured documentation of SLAs, vendor contracts, field visits, and commercial terms.
- Ensure quality control across sourcing and distribution processes.
- Ensure all partnerships adhere to Matis environmental, labor, and safety policies.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong negotiation skills with vendors, operators and partners; knows how to get the best deal without burning bridges.
- Hands-on field experience must be comfortable in dusty quarries, long trucking routes, farmer fields, and government offices alike.
- Strong relevant network and relationships should bring an own trusted network of among one or more of the relevant ecosystem players across operators, trucking and logistics companies, crusher owners etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Hindi (other regional languages a plus).
- A structured and systems thinker who understands both day-to-day logistics and long-term scaling needs.
- Entrepreneurial but grounded thrives with ownership and ambiguity but values execution, systems, and compliance.
- Experience in Agriculture, Agri-logistics, Carbon markets, or climate ventures is a strong plus.
- Willingness to travel: ~25-40% of the time.
