Position Overview
The Project Engineer (PE) is a key contributor to the project team, supporting both field operations and project management. This role ensures smooth project administration through close collaboration with the Superintendent and Project Manager. The PE assists with scheduling, estimating, cost control, document management, and jobsite coordination to help deliver projects efficiently and profitably. Additional exposure to estimating, business development, and preconstruction may be included.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage the submittal process
- Process and track RFIs
- Develop PCOs and support change order management
- Assist with subcontract administration and coordination
- Maintain project document control systems
- Track procurement activities and materials
- Support project startup and buyout activities
- Assist with short-term look-ahead scheduling
- Attend and participate in project meetings
- Manage project closeout, including punch lists, O&Ms, warranties, and spare parts
- Support development of project-specific work plans
Role Function & Authority
- Work directly with both the Project Manager and the Superintendent
- Perform duties with urgency and strong time management
- Support project business operations, including document control, submittals, RFIs, startup, and subcontract coordination
- Primarily site-based; expected to be present and ready at the start of each workday
- Act as a representative to the owner on assigned projects
- Follow established processes, procedures, and compliance standards
- Understand contract rights, obligations, and notice requirements
- Escalate risks or project issues early to senior leadership

Qualifications

2–5 years of construction project experience
Degree in Construction - Management, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or related field

Highly organized with a structured, results-focused approach

Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Knowledge
QSP, SWPPP, LEED, sustainability practices, and tools such as Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Primavera, Navisworks, Microsoft Project, and Viewpoint.
Compensation
Salary range: $95,000 – $115,000 annually (excluding bonuses and benefits). Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
