Mechanical Engineer – Division Leader

The Opportunity

The Mechanical Engineer – Division Leader will play a key role in both technical delivery and team leadership, with clear potential for long-term growth and ownership.

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead and supervise 2–3 mechanical engineering professionals

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight

  • Support resource planning, workload distribution, and team development

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of mechanical building systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls
  • Collaborate with architectural, electrical, and structural teams on complex projects
  • Oversee projects ranging from small facilities to large campuses and high-value construction programs
  • Ensure energy-efficient, sustainable, and code-compliant designs
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client coordination
  • Contribute to marketing, business development, and client relationship efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT actively pursuing PE
  • Ability to obtain Kentucky PE licensure within 6 months (or by comity in other states)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical design within an engineering consulting environment
  • Proven experience with HVAC and plumbing design on large-scale projects

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with lifecycle cost analysis, HVAC modeling, and simulation tools

Professional Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage teams, projects, schedules, and budgets
  • Client-facing experience and business acumen preferred
  • Ability to work independently while leading multidisciplinary team
