Upfitter Technician Team Lead
Role Summary
The Team Lead Upfitter Technician is responsible for converting brand-new vehicles into fully equipped police and emergency response units while leading and supporting a team of upfitter technicians. This role requires advanced automotive electrical and mechanical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and production efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of 3–5 upfitter technicians to meet weekly production and quality goals
- Conduct daily team huddles to assign work and review priorities
- Perform advanced installations of emergency vehicle equipment, including wiring harnesses, controllers, light bars, consoles, partitions, push bumpers, camera and radar systems, power supplies, and related components
- Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles according to build specifications
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and program systems as required
- Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and quality control
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and build quality
- Ensure adherence to safety policies and quality standards
- Attend required meetings
Required Experience & Skills

5+ years of automotive electrical systems experience (preferred)
- 5+ years of police or emergency vehicle upfitting experience (preferred)

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver's license

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Strong attention to detail and leadership mindset
- Positive attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Ability to pass an extensive background check
Preferred Credentials

ASE Automotive Technician certification or a valid mechanics license

EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification
