Role Summary

The Team Lead Upfitter Technician is responsible for converting brand-new vehicles into fully equipped police and emergency response units while leading and supporting a team of upfitter technicians. This role requires advanced automotive electrical and mechanical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and production efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of 3–5 upfitter technicians to meet weekly production and quality goals
  • Conduct daily team huddles to assign work and review priorities
  • Perform advanced installations of emergency vehicle equipment, including wiring harnesses, controllers, light bars, consoles, partitions, push bumpers, camera and radar systems, power supplies, and related components
  • Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles according to build specifications
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and program systems as required
  • Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and quality control
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and build quality
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and quality standards
  • Attend required meetings

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of automotive electrical systems experience (preferred)

  • 5+ years of police or emergency vehicle upfitting experience (preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid Texas driver's license

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Strong attention to detail and leadership mindset

  • Positive attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check

Preferred Credentials

  • ASE Automotive Technician certification or a valid mechanics license

  • EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification
