Role Overview

The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for coordinating purchasing, inventory control, and material planning activities to support operational efficiency. This role ensures material availability, maintains accurate inventory records, and supports quality systems and compliance standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support physical and cycle inventory counts
  • Prepare material requirement reports for forecasting customer demand
  • Create and review purchase orders using MRP systems
  • Audit inventory transactions and warehouse processes (internal and third-party)
  • Resolve delivery issues and coordinate shipments with vendors and warehouses
  • Issue purchase orders, change notices, and purchasing procedures
  • Analyze market trends and delivery conditions to maintain supply continuity
  • Review purchase claims and contracts for policy compliance
  • Conduct on-site inventory and vendor analysis (occasional travel required)
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize cash flow in a just-in-time environment
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and compliance standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of related inventory, purchasing, or materials experience
  • Strong understanding of inventory control and material planning processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical, financial, and legal documents
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with management and external partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Technical Skills
  • Advanced computer proficiency

  • Strong Excel and Word skills with spreadsheet development ability

  • Familiarity with MRP systems preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Office-based role with regular computer use

  • Frequent sitting; occasional walking and reaching

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs as needed

  • Moderate noise level typical of an office setting
