Paralegal - Commercial Lending & Real Estate
Hybrid role - 2 days weekly in office
Key Responsibilities
- - Draft initial closing checklists for attorney review.
- - Assemble deal contacts and manage distribution lists.
- - Communicate with opposing counsel and clients as needed.
- - Coordinate due diligence with legal assistants at opposing firms.
- - Order and review typical due diligence items.
- - Update checklists and address issues with opposing side and client.
- - Review and summarize deal documents.
- - Assist with drafting and updating loan documentation.
- - Proofread work.
- - Participate in the closing process, including document distribution and final coordination with the bank.
- - Conduct post-closing tasks, including organization of loan documents, client deliveries, and follow-up on outstanding items.
- - Lead conference calls for checklist discussions when appropriate.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a commercial lending and real estate paralegal.
- A degree in paralegal studies, NALA paralegal certification, or a bachelor's degree; alternatively, at least 5 years of relevant experience as a lending/closing assistant with a large commercial lender, title insurance company, or a similar role.
- Solid understanding of the basic differences between various types of deals (e.g., construction and non-construction) and other typical deal variations.
- Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously, as well as to maintain a calendar and follow up on items as necessary.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with strong proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and file sharing software (such as Sharefile or HighQ).
- Must be a team player, able to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, including firm administration and attorneys throughout the firm.
